Welcome to the Metro New York Chapter
Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators

SCBWI Metro New York is a chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators, a professional organization for writers and illustrators of children's books. SCBWI members who live in New York City, Long Island and parts of the counties directly north of New York City are automatically members of the Metro New York chapter. We are happy to be here and to offer a variety of events and services.

SCBWI Metro New York Sprng Soiree
Be inspired as you meet with fellow writers, illustrators, and other friends of SCBWI, in this historic former carriage house. Share all things related to art and literature for children in a charming lounge with an outdoor patio. Admission includes the Society of Illustrators regular Sketch Night, so there will be opportunities to write or sketch accompanied by live music.
There will also be door prizes!

When: 6:30PM to 9:30PM

The Revision Process with Abrams Senior Editor, Maggie Lehrman and author Lisa Greenwald.
How does an editor help strengthen what an author submits? How does an author handle an editor's suggestions? Maggie Lehrman, Senior Editor with Amulet Books, Abrams Books for Young Readers and one of her authors, Lisa Greenwald, author of the middle-grade novels MY LIFE IN PINK & GREEN, SWEET TREATS & SECRET CRUSHES, and REEL LIFE STARRING US will speak about the author-editor relationship.
